The Region
The hotel is located in the Highlands. If you have a passion for
pure and awe-inspiring scenery, you are in for a treat. Explore a
wildlife that is typical for vast, often humid and windswept
moorlands and wild peat bogs. Gently sloping hills dotted with huge
rocks, the Loch called lakes with crystal clear waters and the many
castle ruins from the Middle Ages will take you straight into a
heroic world of clans, kilts and bagpipes. Nessie hunters will
tour mysterious Loch Ness that is just a few kilometres away
as well as the ruins of Urquhart Castle, the pretty village of Fort
Augustus and the Drumnadrochit monster-themed museum.
With a bit of luck, you might then even be able to defend that the
stories of the mythic Loch Ness monster don’t just belong to the
land of fantasy…
Inverness is just 15 minutes further north. This totally
fashionable place has a special vibe that can be appreciated by its
way of life. The city prides itself on being North Scotland’s
cultural centre. Host of the June Highland Games and the annual
Inverness Tattoo (not a tattoo show, but a military parade !), the
city offers a varied musical and dance programme. As to local
heritage, archaeology and natural history exhibitions are on at the
Museum and Art Gallery while costume re-enactments are organized by
the gorgeous Gothic castle. The city by the mouth of the River Ness
and by the Caledonian Canal features lovely parks and gardens.
Inverness is a consistent Britain in Bloom award winner.
